Return of the BotM

It occurred to me that it has been entirely too long since my last Babe of the Month entry. Almost 2 years, as a matter of fact. Which is really neglectful of me. There have been plenty of loveliness during that period, just too many distractions to post about it. But, I have decided that it is high time to revive the tradition, and will endeavor to declare a BotM each month from here on out. At least until such time as I don't.

I had a little bit of trouble selecting someone this month. I shall not reveal all of the candidates, because I may wish to use them in later entries. But suffice to say it was a close race. But without further ado, here's the lucky lady. I'm not much of a fan of House. The acting is fine, and I'm not against medical dramas in general. It's just the whole show seems to be centered around a group of supposedly brilliant doctors who constantly run around like chickens with their heads cut off taking almost random guesses at the patients' conditions, hoping to get lucky by not killing the patient with the wrong treatment. But that's not the point here. While channel surfing a few weeks ago, I paused for a short while on this show. The patient in this particular episode (from what I gathered--didn't pay too close attention) appeared to be an architect who had some kind of vision problems. What caught my attention was how familiar she looked. And cute. Despite the hospital gown & tubes & general "not meant to look pretty because she's in grave medical danger" appearance. And then it hit me. It was Codex from The Guild! For those unfamiliar with The Guild . . . well, if you're familiar with WoW (World of Warcraft) or other on-line gaming societies, you'll love it.

Besides being absolutely gorgeous, Felicia Day is a fabulous actress, and is especially wonderful at playing the quirky, nerdy, adorable type. Seriously, I'm totally in love with her character of Codex. Doesn't she have the most adorable smile? So any way, enjoy the beautietousness of Ms. Day. And hope you enjoy the return of BotM.

I suck

Yes, I do. I am stupid. I am a moron. And I am a loser. What more can you say about a guy who turns down an incredibly pretty girl when she asks him to dance?

Finally Friday

It's been a tough week. Lots of stress. Plenty of drama. But I'm not going to go into it here. I did get some good news a couple days ago, though. We got our mid-term grades back and I am quite happy. I got the highest grade in the class on one exam, and did better than I expected in the other two. Definite room for improvement, but I passed with plenty of breathing room. So quite happy on that front. Now I just have to avoid getting cocky, since the finals will be tougher.

Had a very long day yesterday. My employer sent me to a training class in San Fran. This required a 2+ hour drive up, 6 hour training, then a 3 hour drive back down (traffic sucks). And then it was off to school for another couple hours. But I got some really good information, and probably learned more about the concepts of my new assignment in that 6 hours than I did in the week long "training" I had on the job. Not too terribly surprising, that.

Hurray for a three day weekend.

La Novella

Sometimes I feel like I'm living in a soap opera. While I can not go into details here, suffice to say I am terribly disappointed in a decision that a friend has made. It has severely hurt another friend; created problems, confusion, and hurt for a few others; created tension at work; and will, from my perspective, end up only resulting in hurting herself. What she has done, imo, is wrong. Not "wrong" as in "incorrect". "Wrong" as in "not right". And while I recognize that it is her choice, I am sorely disappointed and it undoubtedly has placed a strain on our friendship as well.

I do not pray often. Don't really have the stomach for it. But right now . . . Lord, I beg and plead that I am wrong about how this will end--there has been enough hurt caused already. And if I'm right, I humbly ask that you grant me the strength to not say "I told you so."

Mmmm K

I noticed something a tad bit interesting the other day. Well, interesting to me, at least. A few weeks ago a friend of mine asked what type of girl I generally like. I said I really didn't have a set "type" but that I usually am attracted to the cute, quiet ones. But that's not the interesting part. In thinking about the girls I've been attracted to (not just "find pretty", but genuinely attracted to) over the past 10 years or so I noticed a different pattern. I seem to be drawn, for some inexplicable reason, to girls who's name starts with a "hard C" or "K" sound. Not exclusively, mind you. But a significant number . . . Christine (twice), Christina (twice), Khalisa, Ki'ni, Kelly, Kristin, Carmen, Karla, Kristal, Claire, Kalyn. So 13 ladies with "K" sound names. By contrast, in that same time frame, there have been only 4-5 non-"K" girls. Does anyone else find that a little odd?
